The New 2018 BMW X6 ; Indepth Review, Pictures and Price


A lot has been going on in the automobile industry that for you to impress the audience,you will have to bring out great innovations that people hardly see. That is the case of the new X6 in which case BMW tried but its still under par.


The BMW X6 has passed through so many changes in the past but the latest X6 features the less technological advances seen on any other model year. The 2018 BMW X6 shows the evolution of the luxury crossover better than perhaps any vehicle. It’s a tall-riding vehicle with a sleek and sloping roof-line. Think of it as the nonconformist sibling to BMW’s rather more conventional, family oriented car, the X5.

The most notable improvement in the 2018 X6 is the equipment package and structure which is now reconfigured so that individual options are unlocked after any specific trim is ordered, Trapezoidal exhaust pipes are now standard and 21 inches wheels are now available as an upgrade on the M sport package of any trim.



The X6 is attractive in the way that all BMW cars are attractive, which is to say it’s beautiful but not particularly exhilarating or original. In fact, the face of the X6 is practically a cut-and-paste job from the older X5. Its selling point is its coupe-like body profile. 20 inches wheels fitted with wide tires are standard on the X6 and emphasize the X6’s bulk, especially when viewed from the back. A prolonged hood and attractive body facial lines are also other visible exterior characteristics.

From the front, the X6 shows like a replica of the X5. Things get dramatically different once you start to look at the X6 from other angles. It’s a crossover from the belt line down and something entirely different from where its windows start. Not quite as svelte as a sporty hatchback or sedan, the crossover still boasts a profile far more refined today than nearly a decade ago when BMW introduced the first X6.

The X6 is offered in three options; the sDrive35i/xDrive35i and the xDrive50i. The first two are 6-cylinder models with either rear- or all-wheel drive, while the last comes with a V8 and AWD. The New BMW also come with Ultimate Care, which provides complimentary maintenance for three years or 36,000 miles.



What you get inside the X6 is proper luxury appointments as expected. All of the materials in the X6 are premium grade; they all look and feel expensive. The design itself is typical BMW with a wide center console, curled towards the driver, and a large touchscreen perched on top of the dashboard.

The 10.2-inch touchscreen matches perfectly with the rotary dial between the seats; they make inputs very easy and intuitive for the driver, especially when using the touch-pad on top of the dial. Apple Car Play is an option and Android Auto isn’t available at all. BMW does offer some interesting tech in the X6, like wireless smartphone charging, a WiFi hotspot, real-time traffic information, and a heads-up display.


The standard Dynamic Digital Instrument Cluster on the X6 changes color themes and content to signify whether you’re in Comfort, ECO PRO or Sport driving mode, bathing the dashboard and console in changing array of light. Also, Standard Ambient Lighting uses 3-color LED lights to illuminate the whole cabin with 9 beautiful light designs.

As far as space inside goes, the front seat compartment has significantly more space than the rear. Second row passengers suffer from tight dimensions, especially the headroom, due to the X6’s sloping roof; it offers just 37.4 inches of headroom as compared to 39.8 in the X5.

It goes without saying that the cargo area of the X6 suffers too. Don’t go to your local supermarket expecting to bring home a new large flat screen TV set and a big stereo system in the X6 trunk,you will be utterly disappointed. Unless of course you’ll have to fold the rear seats in order to create for space for your buys. While the cargo area’s depth remains ample, most of its height has been cut off significantly. The X6 offers 26.6 cubic feet of cargo space behind the second row of seats and 17 cubic feet when those seats are folded forward.

Furthermore, the 35i variants of the X6 come with Dakota leather upholstery, 3-stage heated front seats, power tailgate, 14-way-power front seats, rear view camera with front and rear parking sensors, , universal garage-door opener, dual-zone climate control, and power-adjustable steering column, navigation, and 9-speaker/205-watt AM/FM/CD/HD Radio audio system with Bluetooth connectivity and USB inputs.

While the high end xDrive50i comes with 20-way power front seats, upgraded 16-speaker harman/kardon audio system and four zone climate control. Numerous options are offered across trims which includes driving-assist packages that have features like active blind-spot detection, adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning and automatic emergency braking.

Other amenities included are ventilated front seats, heated rear seats, heated steering wheel, wireless phone charging and in-car Wi-Fi, and a night vision assist with pedestrian detection.

Engine and Transmission

The X6 xDrive35i is powered by a turbocharged inline six-cylinder engine that produces 300 horsepower and 300 pound-feet or torque. With peak torque available at just 1,300 rpm, the xDrive35i feels very powerful underfoot at nearly all speeds.

BMW also offers an xDrive50i model with a bi-turbocharged V8 that produces 445 hp, but the punchy and more fuel-efficient six-cylinder is the smarter option. It can even tow a maximum of 6,000 pounds, so who needs the V8?

All models use an excellent 8-speed automatic transmission, and all also feature an automatic stop/start function that stops the engine in situations such as traffic lights where it would otherwise be idle.

2018 BMW X6 has a Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) that starts at about $64,000. Stepping up to the all-wheel-drive X6 xDrive35i puts you over $66,000 mark, and going further still to the V8-powered X6 xDrive50i will cost you over $78,000.


These are just the starting points though. With options, these figures can increase by thousands. With all the options included, a V8 X6 can get past the $100,000 mark.

    My friend had a 530d m sport and met with an accident in that car, the speed was around 220 and the car is destroyed though he didn\’t get a scratch thats what I love about these cars.
